About us
Heating and Cooling Work Built Around the Santa Clara Valley
SwiftAir Conditioning Repair works on heating and cooling systems in homes across San Jose and the surrounding South Bay. Our focus is straightforward: find out why a system isn't working, explain it in plain terms, and fix it the right way. The Santa Clara Valley has dry summers and mild, damp winters, and inland and southern parts of the valley get noticeably hotter in summer than neighborhoods closer to the Bay. That means an air conditioner in one part of the valley can work much harder than the same unit a few miles away, and we take that into account when we diagnose a problem or size new equipment. We handle repairs, replacements, and routine maintenance for central air, furnaces, heat pumps, and ductless mini-splits, along with duct cleaning and indoor air quality work. When a repair makes sense, we say so. When replacement is worth considering, we walk you through the options and the local rules that may affect your choice, so you can decide on your own timeline.
More about how we workWhat to expect
How a visit goes
-
Clear answers before work begins
We show you what's wrong, explain your options, and let you decide. Work starts after you approve it.
-
Repair first when it's reasonable
Not every problem calls for new equipment. If a repair will keep your system running well, we'll recommend that instead of a replacement.
-
Equipment that fits your home
When you do need a new system, we size it for your home, your ductwork, and how hot your part of the valley gets. We don't simply match the old unit's label.
FAQ
Common questions
Do the new Bay Area air rules mean I have to replace my gas furnace?
No. The Bay Area Air District appliance rules don't require you to replace working equipment. They apply only when an existing furnace fails or is replaced. Under Rule 9-4, natural gas furnaces manufactured from 2029 onward must meet a zero-NOx emission standard. In practice, that points homeowners toward heat pumps when they replace a furnace after that date. If your furnace is aging, it's worth thinking about your options now. You don't have to act before it needs replacing.
Can I still get the federal tax credit for a heat pump?
Not for new installations. The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C) covered qualifying heat pumps placed in service before December 31, 2025. It isn't available for heat pumps installed after that date.
Are there local incentives for heat pumps?
There may be. Bay Area homeowners can check BayREN and their local clean energy provider for current heat pump and electrification incentives. Amounts and availability change with each funding cycle. We confirm what's currently offered before we include it in any quote.
Should I repair my air conditioner or replace it?
It depends on what failed, how old the system is, and how well it has been keeping your home comfortable. A single failed part on an otherwise healthy system is usually worth repairing. Repeated breakdowns, uneven cooling, or a system that runs constantly on hot days can be signs that replacement deserves a look. We'll explain what we find so you can weigh both options.
Is a ductless mini-split a good option for my home?
Mini-splits work well in places where ductwork is missing or impractical. Good examples are additions, converted garages, and upstairs rooms that stay hotter than the rest of the house. They can also heat and cool a whole home in some layouts. We look at your floor plan and existing system before recommending one.
How often should my heating and cooling system be serviced?
Most systems benefit from a check-up once a year. If you have a heat pump that handles both heating and cooling, many homeowners schedule a visit in spring and another in fall. Regular maintenance helps catch worn parts and airflow problems before they turn into a breakdown.
I'm also thinking about replacing my water heater. Do the air rules affect that?
They might. The zero-NOx date for small water heaters under the Air District's Rule 9-6 was set for 2027. The Air District Board is considering amendments in November 2026 that could delay it. Check the current rule before you plan a water heater replacement.
When does duct cleaning make sense?
Duct cleaning is worth considering after a remodel, after signs of pests in the ductwork, or when you see dust blowing from the vents even with a clean filter. We can check your ducts and tell you whether cleaning is likely to help or whether the issue is something else, like leaks or a filter that doesn't fit.
